Indoor climate

A pleasant indoor climate is one of the requirements we focus on in projects related to construction and industrial plants. We can also help solve problems with poor indoor climate in existing buildings.

Poor indoor climate causes a long list of discomforts and can have a huge impact on people's health, work efficiency, learning ability and general well-being. People are different and react differently to impact from their surroundings. Some people are especially sensitive to certain conditions, whereas others react to completely different ones. For example, some people are particularly bothered by dust, while others are more affected by the room temperature.

Good indoor climate – a part of good consulting and design

When Balslev is in charge of the design of new constructions, refurbishments, industrial plants etc. our specialists seek to recommend solutions that will ensure a good indoor climate.

Analysis of indoor climate and improvement proposals

We have long experience in identifying indoor climate problems and present solutions to improve or eliminate such problems. We analyse and conduct a thorough survey of the affected buildings and in particular their use. As a next step, we measure a number of aspects related to the indoor climate:

  • Temperature (air and surface)
  • Air humidity, air velocity and air change
  • Noise levels
  • Amounts of articifial light and sunlight
  • Particle concentration
  • Outdoor air quality.

Depending on the nature of the identified indoor climate problems, measurements are taken either over a few days or we set up equipment to measure selected climate conditions over a longer period of time. When we have completed our analyses and assessed the result, the client receives our report with specific solution proposals on how to achieve an optimum indoor climate.

  • Nose and eye irritations
  • Dry mucous membranes
  • Coughing
  • Wheezing breath
  • Difficulty in concentrating
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue.
