Risø DTU

Balslev has designed electrical installations, HVAC, VAV-ventilation and control system for Risø DTU's new fuel cell laboratory

Over the years Balslev has designed laboratories for e.g. industrial, hospital and research purposes. As an example, in 2006 we established a new fuel cell laboratory for Risø DTU - the Danish National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy (formerly Research Centre Risø).

In co-operation with Risø's own architect department we were involved in the rebuilding and retrofit of the laboratory.

Balslev handled all technical engineering areas in connection with the refurbishment of the new facilities for fuel cells, including:

  • Clean room ventilation
  • Drainage & sanitation
  • Treated water and utility water installations
  • Installations for clean gasses, compressed air and vacuum
  • Variable air volume (VAV) ventilation and process suction
  • Electrical installations and lighting
  • Data and telephone systems
  • Control, adjustment and monitoring systems.

In continuation of this assignment with the laboratory, the client also hired Balslev to be in charge of the optimisation of the ventilation system in the existing furnace room, and for the layout of a new furnace room.
